Hey everyone,

after finding out about the PC Engines apu2 platform [0] and its coreboot support [1], I was wondering whether it is actually using or supporting AMD’s Platform Security Processor (aka PSP)? According to AMD, the AMD Embedded G series GX-412TC should have a PSP.

Thanks in advance,
Christian

Hello Christian,

You are right, mentioned SoC is supporting PSP, however we are not using
it. We were not reached by any urge needs to enable it on apu2 series
platforms on the fork repository [0]. Do You have any special needs if I
may ask?

I am also adding Piotr Król on CC as he is also PC Engines platforms
maintainer.

Best regards,
Michał

Hello Michał,

thank you for your quick response. I do some research on the PSP currently and so far I’ve only worked with proprietary bioses supporting it. Working with coreboot would ease this process a lot, since I could communicate with the PSP in a much earlier state than e.g. the PSP Linux driver [0].

I am for example curious whether the PSP is necessary for early system initialization on other AMD platforms like Ryzen or Epyc (afaik it is).

Have a nice weekend,
Christian
